Focus on GAZA: Supporting Mental Health in Times of Crisis

The 8th International Congress of the Jordanian Association of Psychiatrists proudly dedicates a specialized humanitarian and scientific platform to Gaza. This initiative addresses the devastating psychological impact of prolonged conflict, displacement, and trauma on civilians, families, and frontline healthcare professionals.

Why This Matters?

Gaza is enduring a catastrophic humanitarian emergency. Beyond the visible physical destruction lies an invisible epidemic of trauma. Our mission is to bridge the gap between scientific psychiatry and urgent humanitarian aid, focusing on PTSD rehabilitation and resilience building.

Mental health support in Gaza is essential, not optional. We call upon the global medical community to unite for knowledge-sharing, advocacy, and direct support for our colleagues and patients in Gaza.

Scientific Focus on Mental Health in Gaza

Gaza-related mental health challenges will be deeply integrated into the scientific framework of the congress. We aim to move beyond descriptions of trauma towards actionable scientific discourse, addressing critical topics relevant to the current crisis.

  • Psychological trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD) in active conflict settings.
  • Mental health of children and adolescents chronically exposed to war and loss.
  • Community-based psychosocial interventions operational under extreme conditions.
  • Resilience mechanisms, coping strategies, and pathways to long-term recovery.
  • Ethical and clinical challenges faced by mental health professionals working on the ground in Gaza.

These themes will be presented within selected scientific sessions, expert panel discussions, and collaborative forums designed to foster practical solutions.
